China tour was a success - NCCSL

TOUR: The National Chamber members comprising D. Essuwaren, the President of the Chamber, Mrs. Nirmali Samaratunga, Immediate Past President, Lal de Alwis Deputy President and other members joined the delegation led by President Mahinda Rajapaksa to the People’s Republic of China from February 26 to March 4.

D. Essuwaren said the visit was a tremendous success with many positive results being achieved at macro and company levels.

The positive progress made with regard to Hambantota Development Zone including Harbour development, a bunkering system and tank farm was one of the major achievements made.

The Chinese side has agreed to encourage and facilitate Financial Institutions to examine feasibility reports and other aspects on priority projects to enable early commencement of such projects.

They have also expressed their readiness to continue with assistance for Sri Lanka economic and social development.

Another positive development that took place was the mutual agreement to further strengthen the exchange and co-operation culture, tourism and education.
