Kandy clinch Singer Sevens with 28-5 win over CR

RUGBY: Kandy Sports Club continued their hunger for trophies from where they left off at the Caltex League Tournament in 2006 when they became champions of the Singer Professional Rugby Sevens organised by the Sri Lanka Rugby Football Union by beating their arch rivals CR and FC by 28 points (4 goals) to 5 ( 1 try) in the Cup Finals played at Radella yesterday. At half time Kandy SC led 14-5.

The champion Kandy outfit had quite an outstanding tournament beating on the first day Sri Lanka Police 41-0, Army SC 27-5, Dim-Dicks 54-0, and CR & FC 12-5. Havelocks Sports Club won the Plate Championship defeating CH & FC by 21 points (3 goals) to 5 (1 try) in the finals.

The Bowl was won by Sri Lanka Army who beat Sri Lanka Air Force 19-5 in the finals. The shield was won by Sri Lanka Police who got the better or Old Zahirian SC 25-12.
