Ganja valued at over Rs. 900,000 seized

EMBILIPITIYA:The Excise Special Investigating Bureau officials took into custody 110 kilogrammes of ganja valued at over Rs. 900,000 along with two suspects at Kiriebban Ara, Embilipitiya last week.

According to excise sources, the bureau had received information about the cannabis being prepared for sale. The officers pretending to be cannabis buyers had struck a deal with them.

The men agreed to sell 200 Kilogrammes of dried cannabis for Rs. 1,500,000. Excise officers in civies took two men into custody when they were loading the cannabis into a vehicle.

The two men and the drugs were produced before the Wellawaya Magistrate. The men were remanded until March 09.
