‘No shortage of drugs’

COLOMBO: Other than a shortage of a few drugs marketed under trade names, there is no acute shortage of drugs that could affect the consumer needs in the 19 “Osu Salas” the 55 chartered pharmacies and more than 50 distributer pharmacies in the island, stated, State Pharmaceutical Corporation Chairman, Ranjith Maligaspe.

The non-availability of a few number of drugs under trade names may be due to production problems in the manufacturing countries or a decline of supply from where they are imported.

“The Board of Directors are due to meet shortly to look into this problem,” Maligaspe said.
