Was child’s death due to Rubella injection?

KANDY:A three-year-old male child whose death was officially recorded as having occurred following the injection of a rubella vaccine is reported to have been treated for pesticide poisoning in June last year, according to police.

The Inquirer into Sudden Deaths, Kandy Deshkeerthy Mapalagama recorded a verdict of death due to complication arising from the injection of a rubella vaccine on Senarath Bandara Jayalath, 3. The Rubella injection was administered at the office of the Public Health Officer at Werellagama on February 27.

According to Katugastota Police, the infant had been treated at the Kandy hospital last June as a result of the ingestion of the pesticide ‘Paracot’.

Kandy Deputy Health Services Director’s office has launched an inquiry into the matter.
