Photographic competition and exhibition

COLOMBO: The Mount Lavinia Hotel has announced a photographic competition, open to photographers of Sri Lanka to coincide with its 200th anniversary.

The contest aims at “the best shot” of the Hotel, capturing its two centuries of history, its romantic flair and mystery, and breathtaking settings, through the lens.

The awards are air tickets to Europe, Malaysia and India, gift vouchers from Kodak, Hotel holiday and weekend vouchers, and many consolation prizes.

Participation is open to established amateur and professional photographers residing in Sri Lanka. Applications can be sent until March 10 . All applicants are requested to submit a letter, stating their full name, address, contact numbers, their affiliation with photographic associations, and their background and qualifications in photography. They must submit three sample prints (max. size 6”x9”) of any of their work as well.

An expert group, appointed by the Hotel, will review the applications and select a limited number of qualifying participants.

They will be notified and given the necessary details to capture the best view of the Hotel, each from their own artistic and creative angle, between March 13 and 25.

A high level panel of judges, chaired by Swiss photographer Beat Presser, will review the entries and select the winners, which will be announced on March 31 during an award ceremony held at the Mount Lavinia Hotel.

The best photographs will be exhibited at the Hotel during the month of April.

Applications should be submitted to the PR Office, Mount Lavinia Hotel, 100, Hotel Road, Mount Lavinia
