SriLankan launches website for ground handling services

WEBSITE: SriLankan Airlines, which provides ground handling services for all airlines at Colombo’s Bandaranaike International Airport, has launched a website www.srilankan.aero/groundhandling with detailed information for the convenience of new customer airlines and infrequent customers.

SriLankan Airlines Ground Handling is one of the major ground and cargo handlers in the region with 27 years experience.

It currently serves 22 regular customer airlines and ad hoc users (airlines and aircraft operators who use BIA but are not airlines operating scheduled passenger services).

Head of Service Delivery at SriLankan Nigel O’Shea said: “Sri Lanka’s geographical location, coupled with our high standards of service, has made it a popular and convenient stopover point for aircraft of all types, from military aircraft en route to another part of the world, to executive jets.

The website is designed to provide information at the fingertips of those who want to know about the services and facilities we offer at BIA.”

SriLankan Airlines’ services at BIA include passenger and baggage handling, aircraft maintenance, aircraft servicing and cleaning, aviation security, cargo and mail handling, catering services, executive aviation handling, crew administration, co-ordination of fueling with other parties, load control and communications, ramp services, surface transport of passengers and crew, hotel accommodation, and leisure activities.

Manager Airport Service Support Ajith Fernando said: “Ad hoc carriers are an important customer segment for SriLankan Airlines, and account for approximately 10% of ground handling revenue. We intend to expand this business by enhancing convenience for our customers.”
