Lanka on correct path to rapid progress - President

GUANGZHOU: President Mahinda Rajapaksa told the business community in Guangzhou that the security situation will not be a bar for investors to commence their industries in Sri Lanka as the Government has taken steps to confine terrorism to a small part of the country.

Addressing the Sri Lanka-Guangdong Investment, Trade and Tourism Seminar at the White Swan Hotel in Guangzhou city, President Rajapaksa said Sri Lanka has entered into the process of developing the country while defeating terrorism in the country.

President Rajapaksa said Sri Lanka has also joined hands with the world community to defeat terrorism to direct the country towards the path of rapid development like the Chinese Government did a few years back.

“We are now at a time where the cancerous menace of terrorism is facing successive defeats confining activities to a small part of the country,” President Rajapaksa added.

He said Sri Lanka has now entered into the correct path of rapid development with the correct decision taken by the Sri Lankan people at the last Presidential Election.

“We are adopting the policy of developing the country giving priority to the development of remote parts of the country,” the President added.

President Rajapaksa said the investors in China can benefit by the infrastructure facilities coming up in Hambantota area to commence their industries using Sri Lanka as a gateway to the South Asian market.
