Heavy funding for development in Dambulla

SIGIRIYA: Implementing the proposals of the "Mahinda Chintana"
a massive allocation of five thousand billion rupees goes to Greater
Dambulla Development projects, said the Minister of Local Government and
Provincial Councils Janaka Bandara Tennakoon.
He said Dambulla which used to be seat of King Valagambahu - is to
regain its regal glory when the proposed projects come into effect.
Developing the associated outskirts and such towns, of Dambulla such
as Naula - Galawela - Pallepola - Sigiriya and Kanghawela, and
preservation activities of the sacred town of Dambulla gets prominence
under this project.
He further said extension of the railway from Matale to Habarana -
which would be a advantage for Tourists who would enjoy their travelling,
and also would be a boon for Agro-Economic Development, said the
Minister.
Development of rural roads linking the town of Dambulla - and
providing more facilities for tourism are targeted to achieve it, said
the Minister.
The District Secretariat of the Dambulla area has been advised to
express their views on the proposals.
The Minister, said Town planners and environmentalist are mobilized
for the project and some important aspects of the projects have already
started. |
