Envoys call on Foreign Minister
COLOMBO: Several Ambassadors including the U.S. Ambassador
Robert O’ Blake paid courtesy calls to the newly appointed Foreign
Affairs Minister Rohitha Bogollagama yesterday.
During his meeting the US Ambassador said he is looking forward to
work closely with the Minister to further strengthen the already
existing excellent relations between the two countries.
The Ambassador reiterated U.S. Government’s commitment to counter
terrorism.
Minister Bogollagama said during his upcoming visit to the Maldives
he will seek the assistance of SAARC countries for greater cooperation
on vigilance and surveillance in such a manner that the U.S will not
have to pay more on counter terrorism efforts.
The Foreign Minister also said during his recent German visit he had
useful meetings with the Foreign and Interior Ministers and they assured
him that investigations would be done in any part of their territory on
any complaints of LTTE activities.
Earlier, the Qatar Ambassador Ali-hamad Mubarak and the Kuwait
Ambassador Fahad H. Sh. Al-Metairi called on Foreign Minister,
Bogollagama. |
