Six LTTE terrorists including leader killed
ROTTEKULAMA: The STF shot dead six LTTE terrorists including a leader
during a confrontation near the 216th mile post on the
Akkaraipattu-Pottuvil road last morning.
A Police Constable too was killed and three STF personnel suffered
minor injuries in the clash which occurred when terrorists ambushed a
group of STF personnel from the Kanchanakudah and surrounding STF camps
who were on a search operation to hunt a group of terrorists who had
hi-jacked three vehicles belonging to the JAICA from its premises at
Rottekulama.
According to a statement issued by the STF the terrorists fired at
their personnel from the Kandikudichchiaru jungle where they retreated
after seizing the vehicles that were being used for Tsunami relief work.
The trucks were seized by the terrorists while being parked at the
JAICA office premises at around 3.15 pm on Saturday.
According to the STF statement they received information that three
groups of LTTEers led by Indian, Madhurakavi and Christy had removed the
vehicles from the JAICA premises and were heading towards
Kandikudichciaru.
According to workers at JAICA the men who were clad in Tiger uniform
and heavily armed had inquired if the STF were around.
Officers of the Rottekulama STF camp which searched the area
discovered several discarded caps of the LTTE which indicated that the
terrorists had retreated to the jungles.
