Thera passes away

GALLE: Most Venerable Galvehera Amaragnana Thera, the Maha Nayake of the Samastha Lanka Amarapura Chulaganti Maha Nikaya passed away. The thera contributed mmensely for the improvement of Pali language.

He authored several books such as Gurula Sandeshaya, Pali Aakkyatha Deepaniya, Samanera Dhamma Vagga Sanskaranaya, Panchavidha Anthardanaya and Paspaw vinisa. The cremation will be held on Saturday at the Ahungalle Weerasinghe esplanade at 2.30 p.m.

Death of P. Vadivel

COLOMBO: Retired Provincial High Court Judge and father-in-law of S.N.R. Pillai, the Deputy Editor of Thinakaran, Ponnasamy Vadivel of Velvatithurai expired on Monday.

Cremation will take place at 3.00 pm at the Trincomalee Hindu cemetery today. He was a legal consultant to the North-East Province at the time of his death.
