Mv Emirates Wasl makes maiden call at JCT
MAIDEN CALL: Mv Emirates Wasl of Hyper Galex services made its maiden
call at the Sri Lanka Ports Authority controlled Jaya Container Terminal
(JCT) last week.
The vessel built in November 2006 having a capacity of 3398TEUs sails
at a speed of 22.4 Knots. It is also the first vessel on the New Hyper
Galex Service under Emirates Shipping Line FZE.
Sterling Navigations Agencies (pvt) Ltd., functions as the accredited
agent for the shipping line in Colombo.
The service is jointly operated by Emirates Shipping, Shipping
Corporation of India and T S line of Taiwan.
Hyper Galex service is a pendulum service starting from Xiagang in
China to Dammam in the Middle East calling Colombo on both west bound
and east bound services.
The ports of call for this service, Xiagang, Qindao, Shanghai, Ningbo,
Hong Kong, Jabel Ali, Dammam, Abu Dhabi, Cochin, Colombo, Singapore and
Hong Kong.
Hyper Galex will also help the Port of Colombo enhance the throughput
volumes further and will be using Colombo as its main hub port to
tranship cargo on to its other services.
To make the maiden call of the vessel at JCT a plaque exchange was
made on board the ship between the Chairman of SLPA Saliya
Wickramasuriya and the ship's Captain Denis Bracanor. Additional Manging
Director, SlPA Cpt. Nihal Keppetipola, The Director, Port Operations at
SLPA U. Bopitiya, Director of the agency, Cpt. Ajantha Abeysinghe,
Operation Manager of the Agency Sunimal Withana were also present at the
occasion. |
