NEW PROJECT: The construction of the super luxury Torino Skyline luxury condominium complex in Wattala will commence early next year. The Board of Investment has approved the project.

The investing company for the project is SST Property Developers (Private) Limited, and the total investment for the project would be Rs. 2.5 billion with foreign collaboration, CEO, SST Property Developers, Linton Fernando said.

He said that more and more people in Sri Lanka are now looking at luxury living and this was one reason for them to embark on this project. "We have observed that the Wattala area is showing a rapid economic growth with all leading banks, supermarket food outlets setting up their branches in the area."

"A luxury residential cum commercial complex was something missing for the area and this prompted our Chairman/Managing Director, Turin Perera to go ahead with this project," he said.

The theme is to provide more space in apartments. The Chairman's vision is to develop a mini city and also to fulfil the need for housing.

The CEO said since the proposed building complex would be just five minutes away from the Katunayake Express highway and they are also hoping to attract Colombo airport airline crews and other staff members. This complex would also attract Katunayake investment promotion expatriates.

The total extent of land for the apartment complex is five acres and the entire project is a mixed development consisting of three stages.

This phase will consist of 165 luxuriously designed apartments occupying an area of 342 perches. The complex will emerge as three towers linked by one base superstructure reaching up to 16 floors, while the other two buildings will reach up to 14 floors.

The Torino Skyline will offer seven types of apartments designed to suit the taste and style of individuals. In addition there would be 12 spacious penthouses in eight designs.

The second phase of development will consist of 150 luxury apartment units. A commercial complex, which would occupy three acres, would be allocated to cater to a large community both local and foreign.

This would include conference halls, exhibition centre, 'A' class accommodation, reception halls, business centre, departmental stores, auditorium, entertainment, Restaurants, Supermarket, Shopping, Banking and Other services, Gaming Arcade, Children's play Area, Clubs, Food court and Theatres.

SST Property Developers Private Limited, incorporated in 2006, is a BOI approved organisation which caters to consumers who are seeking housing for secure and better living.

The developers would be also briefing the public, environmental groups and Government officials on the benefits of this project to the area on Thursday at Pegasus Reef Hotel.
