How sections of media poison the Diaspora - a Canadian example

SUICIDE ATTACK: Just past midnight Canadian Eastern Standard Time (EST) news reached us about the suicide bomb attack on Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapakse's brother Gothabaya, who is also the island's defense secretary.

Fortunately, we were able to breathe a sigh of relief as only the bomber himself/herself was killed beyond recognition; a victim of evil indoctrination as Wanni Tigers alone can connive and conceive such malevolent iniquity to serve a bunkered monster who lusts for blood.

The blast injured 14 people including service personnel, surprisingly low numbers considering the place where this dastardly act was committed and the busy time of the morning in Downtown Colombo.

Early this morning, however in the GTA - Greater Toronto Area, the Tamil Diaspora was fed with a report on the incident packed with Plutonium 210-type radiation poison; one could claim it was worse than that potion.

Obviously and most apparently disappointed that the suicide attempt failed, the CMR/TVI came out with an audacious report in its news service that following the suicide attack, the Sri Lankan Security Forces opened fire and five innocent civilians were killed.

This is the kind of news and information that this service has been spitting and spraying on the Tamil Diaspora ever since it was launched.

It also exposes the evil impact it has on the largest number of Sri Lankan Tamils outside Sri Lanka who have made Canada their home and acting in such a manner to have them in their Tiger-hold perpetually and not allowing them to integrate themselves in the Canadian pluralist society.

The Diaspora is also encouraged not to respect Canada's concerns about terrorism and as a result, the laws of the country.

Commercially it encourages various activities that go for the quick kill, often circumnavigating certain laws of the country and obligations especially in the area of real estate advertised very heavily on the CMR/TVI and other pro-LTTE media.

One such begins the morning with a half-hour bash of boring property time, advertising houses for sale when it is normal and proper to have meditative messages and traditional music.

A large number of individuals and families are encouraged to buy homes they cannot afford and soon many of them get into serious difficulties that has led to very severe family problems.

In effect, the real estate people, are enriching themselves on the agonies of their own people just like how pro-LTTE shopkeepers in Jaffna are exploiting their own by creating shortages sending essential goods into the Black Market.

Take any Canadian Tamil tabloid; it is flushed with a gallery of passport-sized pictures of house hawkers, virtually like a gallery of photographs often seen in police stations throughout the world. Such is the kind of narcissistic ego that seems to be yearned by the vendors.

But for them most of the tabloids and even the radio and TV enterprises would fall flat. Both the house vendors and the Tamil media survive by the grace of the Wanni terrorists and in return they promote terror-based ideas in the community and especially among the Tamil youth.

In Sri Lanka, Prabhakaran has virtually destroyed half of the Tamil youth and in Canada, Tiger supporters like the CMR/TVI are injecting venom and terrorist ideologies in the minds of the Tamil young people.

Another disturbing factor is how these organizations try to go round Canada's strictures on terrorism and hold meetings to support the LTTE under cover of community activities.

In a rally organized at a convention centre in the GTA, one of the Tiger supporters and political analyst for CMR/TVI, S Thiruchelvam standing next to a collection box tried to give the impression to the South Asian TV interviewer that whatever people give are to meet the community needs of Tamils in Sri Lanka, which is exactly what the TRO has been saying for years.

There need be no doubt about it. This was another excuse to raise funds for the Tigers that is illegal in Canada. Even otherwise, if these funds were for the Tamils, the LTTE will not allow one cent to go past them.

It won't allow even a plate of rice and sambol to go to the community let alone a packet of peanuts and in several needy situations, shame on the Tamil Diaspora, Sri Lankan soldiers have been giving their own rations to the Tamil civilians.

Thiruchelvam has a colourful and chequred record in Sri Lanka and now for some years in Canada. Known as a phony adventurer among the Canadian Tamils for his annual festival of awards, he has primed himself as an eminent personality among the Tamils and who thinks his awards are much envied in the community.

He has his self-admiring takers and at times unsuspecting victims too. His giveaways are known as Goofy Awards.

He comes regularly on the air via the CMR/TVI and indulges in anti-Sri Lankan news reports and highly pro-LTTE propaganda based mostly on lies at which he has shown his expertise most deftly.

Some people can fool all the people for sometime and some people all the time yet Thiruchelvam's time ran out long ago yet he persists still with the CMR/TVI and the LTTE. They need him to be the Joseph Goebells of the LTTE in Canada like Dirty Sethu in Norway.

The indifference of the Tamil community to such exploiters and mind-benders is the vulnerability factor that has adversely affected it over decades and still it has not learnt its lessons. It will identify its enemies within it, if only it will take a look inside it.

We can only address ourselves to the Tamil Diaspora in Canada and say: "Look at your pathetic self with your allegiance to a murderous monster in Wanni who wants no political solution to the ethnic crisis there and is holding the entire Tamil community to ransom while you are unwilling to integrate yourself and your children in Canada's multicultural ideology.

While the Wanni Monster is sending the young of your kith and kin to slaughter, your are injecting racist venom and terrorist ideologies in the minds of your young ones."

It is absolutely disgusting that the CMR/TVI celebrates death and desolation in Sri Lanka and if that does not happen, manufactures lies to give a meal of twisted and contorted information to its listeners and viewers for such is the kind of horrendous appetite the media has developed for the Tamil Diaspora.
