Canter contained 80kg of explosives

COLOMBO: The CID team investigating the Digampathana suicide blast said the Canter lorry which rammed into the Navy buses contained over 80kg of high explosives.

"We cannot tell the exact amount of the explosive and their type until Government Analyst's report is submitted ", CID sources said. "We are awaiting for the report of the Government Analyst", the sources added.

The original owner of the Canter was arrested in Kurunegala. He is a resident of Kurunegala. Investigations reveal that the original owner had sold the Canter to a person in Vavuniya.
