The implications of electoral reform
It was recently reported that the two major
parties had agreed on a new system for elections. This has been
presented as a mixed system, with the implication that it combines
the first past the post or pluralist system with proportional
representation. It is therefore likened to the German system, which
does in fact mix these two elements.

LTTE and its UK-wide network
LTTE was banned in the UK February 28, 2001. The
annual publication of the International Institute for Strategic
Studies London 'Military Balance 2005/2006' referred to emerging
links between the LTTE and the Al-Qaeda movement.
