Lankans' lifestyles triggering high living costs-CAA chief
Hathoon Sheriffdeen
LIVING COSTS: "Consumers can help to bring the cost of living
down by practising a healthy life style. Sarath Wijesinghe Chairman
Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) said "We have our natural and locally
generated goods and services, which are more nutritious and less costly.
We consider the artificial, tinned and packed products which are
imported as very hygienic and prestigious.

"These practices drive the country towards inflation. People should
be aware of retail prices quoted for goods and services by the Consumer
Affairs Authority (CAA) through newspapers. It's one of the rights of a
citizen to consume quality products and services for a moderate price.
"Failing this it's the duty to complain to CAA through the hot line
1919/2399146 or any other contact numbers to CAA. Some ambitious
activities are planned to be undertaken by the authority on awareness
creation in the coming weeks. Especially we are planning to work with
the Bar Association during "law week".
Following that there is the consumer walk across Colombo in a day,
where we can talk to people about the authority. We are planning to
educate students, too, through the conduct of seminars in schools. |
