Ladies vie Golf trophy 2006

GOLF: Apart from the promotion of competitive golf amongst the ladies, there is bound to be much more, for both participants and those present when the golf tournament of the ladies section of the Royal Colombo Golf Club (RCGC) for the 2006 'Hyundai Challenge Trophy' takes place on Friday, September 15 at the RCGC.

This much looked forward to five-year-old tournament, has been sponsored right along by Hyundai Lanka (Pvt) Ltd, to become a popular event in the golfing calendar of the ladies section of the RCGC.

It was gathered from the managing Director Hyundai, Heinz. A. Reuter and its Executive Director, Gehan Siribaddana when addressing the print as well as the electronic media last Friday at the RCGC that they were very committed to assisting sports, and that the parent body of 'Hyundai' has been actively, involved in the promotion of sports, and have supported the cause of quite a few world championships, the recent being the 2006 world soccer competition.

According to the acting lady captain of the RCGC, Suwaneetha Selvaratnam, this golf competition open for ladies of the RCGC, will be conducted on the Stableford format and commence at 7.00 a.m. on Friday September 15.

The participants determined by their individual handicaps will play under three categories viz; 'A' 0-12, 'B' 13-24 'C' 25-36.

There will in addition be a non-handicap group, with 50 lady golfers in all taking part.
