SLC clarifies

CRICKET: We refer to your press report of Saturday 5th August 2006 appearing in the Daily News and wish to make the following clarification:-

The distribution of memorablia of the Celebration of 25th Anniversary of Test Status held at P. Saranavanamuttu Stadium on 4th August 2006, was restricted to the Cricketers of the First Test Squad, the Manager and Dressing Room personnel. All retired umpires were felicitated by Sri Lanka Cricket at a Special Ceremony held on 27th of June 2006 at Sri Lanka Cricket Headquarters, at which ceremony their services to Sri Lankan Cricket were recognized and given handsome cash awards.

However, please note that the two umpires who officiated at the First Official Test Match were once again rewarded separately.

A complete list of Journalists and Media Men who covered the inaugural Test were not available and therefore the name of the Journalist who had covered 100 Test Matches were mentioned in appreciation of all Journalists and Media Men.
