All parties should support President - UNP MP W. B. Ekanayake
COLOMBO: Anuradhapura district MP W. B. Ekanayake who was
sworn in yesterday as the Deputy Minister of Highways before President
Mahinda Rajapaksa, said all should extend their support to the
Government led by the President to strengthen the course of action
followed by him to resolve the national issue.
Ekanayake said he represented the United National Party for 41 years
and that the time had come to work for the resolution of problems of the
suffering masses not only in one's particular area but of the people
living in other areas as well.
He declared that his sole objective is to give a helping hand to
strengthen the measures adopted by the President to resolve problems of
the people.
The Deputy Minister, who added that this is not a moment to wage
strikes, but an hour for all to unite for building the country said that
strikes only lead to provide an opportunity for the reactionaries to
fulfil their wants.
Besides finding a solution to the issue in the North it is necessary
to implement a programme to give some relief to the people who are
burdened with the high cost of living but not to engage in petty
politics, the Minister said. |
