Only alternative to peace is peace
President Mahinda Rajapaksa said yesterday although
all sincere attempts to bring the LTTE to the negotiating table had
failed, the Government would persist in its efforts to prevail on the
LTTE that the only alternative to peace is peace.

President took steps to protect minorities - DWC President
Every Government irrespective of their political
conviction has a moral duty to safeguard the minorities whether, they be
Tamils, Muslims or any other community. Any Government which fails in
this duty causes a vacuum in governance. Therefore, it is convincing to
note that President Mahinda Rajapaksa has taken positive action to curb
violence at Pambegama Estate, Eheliyagoda and pay the Victims
Compensation for their losses.
