About150 foreign and local scientists for ACSSI conference
COLOMBO: Around 100 scientists from abroad and about 50 local
scientists will participate at the 10th Asian Conference on Solid State
Ionics (ACCSSI-10) organised by the Postgraduate Institute of Science
and the Faculty of Science, University of Peradeniya.
The event will be held from June 12 to 15 at the PGIS auditorium.
Latest developments on technologically important materials, including
nano-materials that could be used in Solid State batteries and sensors
will be discussed and research papers will be presented by local and
foreign scientists and research students working in this research area.
The conference will provide a forum for local researchers to interact
with their peers from other countries and exchange ideas and initiate
collaborative research projects in this emerging area of materials
research.
Salinda Dissanayake, Minister of Coconut Development and Deputy
Minister of Science and Technology will be the Chief Guest at the
inauguration scheduled to be held on 12th June at 9 a.m. at the PGIS
auditorium.
The Organizing Committee consists of Prof. Lakshman Dissanayake,
Prof. M. A. Careem, Prof. Gamini Rajapakse, Dr. Varuni Seneviratne and
Dr. V. Sivakumar and other senior academics from Peradeniya and other
Universities. The Asian Solid State Ionics Society will be represented
by Prof. B. V. R. Chowdari of National University of Singapore. |
