MIC endeavour to make Lanka focal point in IT

TIE-UP: Leading Scandinavian IT procurement solution provider Marakanda Integration Centre (MIC) of Sweden will amalgamate with a leading e-logistic provider Sweden based Parcelhouse Technology Centre (PTC) to provide comprehensive IT solutions.

MIC is running a technology centre in Colombo and planning to make Sri Lanka a focal point to reach Asian countries in the region to provide both e-procurement and logistic solutions for them.

The reason being to choose Sri Lanka for future Asian operations due to its excellent geographical location, MIC Chief Information Officer Michael Medin told the Daily News.

He said currently more than 100 Sri Lankan IT graduates are working with them to develop software solutions for their other partners including Swedish Post, American Express, Bennet-Travel International, Nordea, Eurocard and many more.

The company delivers software solutions requires efficient resources and tools within the Business Process Integration (BPI) and Business Process Outsourcing (BPO).

MIC has developed both skill and specific services during several years of the technology and integration centre in Sri Lanka that provide services for BPI and BPO, he said.

Medin who was in Sri Lanka for a short visit said that in Sweden Marakanda has 50 per cent market share of the e-procurement system within the public sector and is market leader regarding complete business travel solutions in Scandinavia. The solutions dramatically increase the efficiency of the customers businesses and over 250,000 people among over 500 companies and organisations are using their software solutions provided by the company.

With the merger of Parcelhouse they could provide a comprehensive service to their customers and are prepared to help develop IT infrastructure as well. The company is planning to work with ICTA Agency to promote IT at a national level, he said.
