Five hundred Nurses for North -East hospitals

COLOMBO: The Health Ministry will recruit 500 nurses for the hospitals in the North and East on the instruction of Health Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva.

The Gazette Notification calling for applications from females for Nursing Training will be published during the week. Females who are not less than 4'11" in height and have passed GCE (O/L) with four Credits inclusive of Langauge, Mathematics and Science and passed the GCE A/L in Science in 2005 can apply.

Applications will be closed on June 23 and the selected candidates will receive three-year training and on the completion of the training, they will be attached to hospitals in the North Eastern Provinces.

All pupil nurses during their training period will be paid a monthly allowance of Rupees Twelve Thousand, the release said.
