OIC nabbed while soliciting bribe

MONERAGALA: Officer in charge of the Bibila Police station was nabbed by the officials of the Bribery Commission, while he was soliciting Rs. 3,000 from a toddy tapper of Nagala, Bibila.

The Bribery Commission officials caught Bibila Police OIC Dayananda Alahaperuma while he was soliciting the bribe inside his office room. Bribery Commission SSP Nevil Guruge said, that the OIC insisted the tapper to pay him Rs. 3,000 monthly to tap toddy from more trees than what was permitted for him.

However, following the complaint made by the tapper to the Bribery Commission the OIC Bibila was nabbed by the investigators of the Bribery Commission.

The suspect was produced before Magistrate, Moneragala and he was remanded till March 21.
