IDB training for women
Training : The Industrial Development Board (IDB) will
initiate the training programme "Diriya Kantha" to promote rural women's
capabilities and skills. It has focused to promote the female estate
workers to lend hand them to enter the business.
The IDB has organised this programme to celebrate International
Women's Day March 8 targeting women workers. The programme started
yesterday at the Janakala Kendraya in Battaramulla.
IDB Chairman Jaliya Nawinne said that the aim is to promote
livelihood of women and to create more income generating avenues. It
will conduct this programme with the assistance of the Daintee Ltd and
the Estate Infrastructure and Livestock Ministry.
Professionals in cookery will demonstrate and conduct training to
improve the knowledge on cookery for those who need to migrate as house
maids and to start their own business.
This is a two-year programme and each week they will train 25 women.
Under this programme, it expects to donate cookery equipment for
