Alucop wins Rs. 200 m CEB tender
TENDER: Alucop Cables has won two tenders for Rs. 200 million
from the Ceylon Electricity Board.
The first tender is for the fabrication and supply of PVC service
main Wires. The second contract is for supply and delivery of all
aluminum conductors.
Chairman Sierra Cables Ltd, Priyantha Perera said that they are happy
with the outcome of this contract. "Alucop Cables has now grown into one
of the foremost BOI companies and has launched its supremely productive
and functional cables and enameled winding wire of matchless quality, at
very competitive prices. We are an ISO 9001-2000 certified organisation,"
he said.
Sierra launched an IPO recently and with this, a major factory
expansion drive was completed. "This enabled up to double our production
and improve quality," he said. The production capacity of our plants is
over 5000MT per annum both copper and aluminum.
Basic raw materials such as copper are imported from Australia,
Korea, India, Malaysia and Jeddah while the Aluminum is imported from
Jeddah and Malaysia. PVC is imported from Malaysia and Singapore.
Alucop Cables was established in April 1978 and was acquired by
Sierra Cables Limited, a fully owned subsidiary of Sierra Construction
Limited.
The factory was re-located Kaduwela in 2001.
The factory has the full range of machinery to suit all requirements
and fully equipped modern laboratory to ensure the maintenance of
highest quality standards. |
