Growing demand for cruise tours

THERE is an increasing demand from Sri Lankan travellers for cruise
tours, which are mainly being organized in Europe and America.

According to Chairman Worldlink Air Services (Pvt.) Ltd, Ahintha
Amerasinghe which are the agents for world leading cruise line, Princes
Cruises the main reason for the Cruises to be popular is the fact that
it combines sea, air and rail. The tour also offers luxury lodging in
Alaska and luxury trains in the package.
They are also linked with United Airlines to provide the air link to
the Cruise, which usually originates from Anchorage. "Over 80 percent of
the tour is in the water," he said.
He said the main Sri Lanka market comprises professionals,
businessmen, their families and friends. The sea cruise is around seven
days and the luxury and the all-inclusive fare is usually under 2000 US
dollars, which includes airfare, domestic travelling and all meals.
The Princes Cruises has five swimming pools, gold course, tennis
courts, disco, nightclub, and has two international entertainment shows
every night.
Amerasinghe said that due to the growing demand from Asia, the cruise
line has decided to introduce a special seven night Asian cruise linking
Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand. This package would be sold 50 percent
less than European Cruises. This package would be available from next
April.
