India thrash Sri Lanka by eight wickets
 

LEFT arm paceman Irfan Pathan inspired India to a comfortable eight wicket win over Sri Lanka in the second one-day international on Friday with a lethal spell on his 21st birthday. Pathan took four for 37 as Sri Lanka succumbed for 122 in 35.4 overs after India had opted to field first in the day-night clash.

Mathews tipped to lead Lanka in u-19 world cup
 

JOSEPHIAN all-rounder Angelo Mathews is tipped to lead Sri Lanka in the forthcoming Under 19 World Cup tournament which is scheduled to be held in Sri Lanka in February next year. Mathews, an outstanding all-rounder has been identified by the national selectors as the player with the best credentials to captain the side for the important event.

The Sri Lanka Army Inter-Regimental Drill and Band Competition was held yesterday at the Army grounds under the patronage of Army Commander Shantha Kottegoda, Navy Commander Wasantha Karannagoda and Air Force Commander Donald Perera.
