Porsche Carrera Cup Asia :
Malagamuwa takes sixth place after round 10
Dilantha Malagamuwa Sri Lanka's racing driver competing in round 10
of the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia in Shanghai, China has been placed 8th.
Though he was placed eighth his official position was considered as
fifth as there were 3 guest drivers. With this latest position he is
placed in the 6th in the overall Championship.
He qualified as the 11th qualifier this was mainly due to few
problems he faced with the car. Dilantha was among the ten drivers upto
the fifth lap and had trouble when his car had a spin. This caused him
to be dropped to thirteenth slot but with his dare devil driving managed
to catch up with the front runners and received the chequered flag as
the 8th driver. During this achievement he did few very good lap timings
which helped him secure 12 points from this 12 lap stage.
This race was considered as the support race for F1 race and a
spectator gathering of 130,000 witnessed a good race meet.
Dilantha will face the final stage of this championship scheduled for
November 20 in Macau Next year all drivers will be driving New Porsche
997 cars.
Dilantha is thankful to his sponsors Yoshiyuki Hayashi of Japan and
the Government of Taiwan for its fullest co-operation which they are
hoping to continue for the year 2006. |
