The Treasury has allocated Rs. 56 million for 2005 for the Public Enterprises Reform Commission, the annual report said. With the work activity getting defined, the Commission's Budget for 2005 was revised to Rs. 87 million.

The President’s Environmental Awards ceremony for Excellence in Environmental Services was held at the Janadhipathi Mandiraya on Friday. Here Florence Wickramage of the Daily News receives the Presidential Environmental Award for Excellence in Environmental Communication from President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga. Wickramage thus sets a record for being the first and the only female Journalist to receive the Environmental Communication Award in the first ever President’s Environmental Awards Ceremony organised by the Central Environmental Authority.
