Presidential election - a contest between patriot and betrayer

The forthcoming Presidential election is a straight contest between a candidate dedicated to protect the unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country and a candidate who will even betray the country to please the terrorists, said Women's Empowerment and Social Welfare Deputy Minister S.M. Chandrasena. He was addressing a series of election meetings in support of the Presidential candidature of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse in the Horowpotana electorate recently.

He said Prime Minister Rajapakse is a person who has dedicated himself to protect the country, people and the national interest. These policies were detested by terrorists bent on dividing this country. That is why the Premier has been compelled to address election rallies standing behind a bullet proof screen.

He has been forced to do so by his supporters and followers much against his will. Although the UNP was accusing Mahinda Rajapakse of addressing people from the safety of a bullet proof screen, the people at large knew that he had a constant threat to his life due to his steadfast nationalist policies.

Premier Mahinda Rajapakse, he said was an unblemished candidate who had no past record of burning libraries or whipping up racial tendencies.
