SLT and ACCA to conduct HighQ - quiz programme for schoolchildren
Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) and the Association of Chartered Certificate
Accountants (ACCA) signed an agreement recently to introduce a quiz
programme for schoolchildren in Sri Lanka.
The quiz programme which is called HighQ will be a first of its kind
in the country with the primary focus being to encourage and recognise
general IQ among schoolchildren.
The quiz programme which is coordinated by ACCA is approved by the
Ministry of Education. The need for such a programme was identified by
both SLT and ACCA, because of the universal growing expectations of
children to perform with skill and knowledge in order to be duly
recognised. HighQ is for all schoolchildren aged 12 to 20, be it from
government, private or international schools.
Each school would be allowed to enter two of their current students
to represent the school.
The programme is designed to recognise the participant's excellence
with the relevant school getting due credit as all participants need to
apply through their schools.
Applications signed by the head of the school should be sent to ACCA,
9 Rosmead Place Colombo 07 or faxed in on 2676599.
All applicants will be invited to an initial selection test. At this
test they would be required to answer a written paper containing 50
questions of general knowledge. 60 participants who will be then chosen
on the performance at this exam will be vying for the grand prize.
With over 100 schools having already sent in their applications, it
should be noted that HighQ would not be a competition between schools
but against individual students.
Renowned quiz master Nalaka Gunawardene, has formulated the HighQ
programme keeping in mind all the current topics from varied fields. |
