11th death anniversary of Gamini Dissanayake
The 11th death anniversary of Gamini Dissanayake falls on October 22
(Saturday). The Gamini Dissanayake Commemoration Society has organised
various functions to mark this event. There will be a floral tribute to
the Gamini Dissanayake statue at Ananda Coomaraswamy Mawatha, Colombo 7
on October 22 at 9.30 a.m. as the main function.
The chief guest will be Ranil Wickremesinghe, Leader of the
Opposition and the guest of honour will be Prasanna Gunawardene Mayor of
Colombo. The Speaker of the Parliament W.J.M. Lokubandara and Karu
Jayasuriya, Deputy Leader of the Untied National Party will also grace
this occasion as special guests.
A lot of distinguished guests and the members of the family of late
Gamini Dissanayake, officials and members of Gamini Dissanayake
foundation and Gamini Dissanayake Commemoration Society and friends will
participate in this occasion.
On this occasion school bags containing books and equipment will be
donated to 100 schoolchildren selected from low income families in the
Nuwara Eliya District.
On October 23, there will be a Sanghika Dana to invoke blessings on
late Gamini Dissanayake. Many more events are organised, as follows
