Kit Premier League Soccer Championship:

Ratnam moves to top spot
 

RATNAM Sports Club moved to the top of the Kit Premier League Segment 'A' points table when they defeated Java Lane Sports Club three goals to nil last weekend.

The three points added to their tally of 11 points made it thirteen to get the top spot ahead of Negombo Youth SC who has a total of 12 points. Last weekend's table leaders Jupiter SL was pushed down to third place with the loss they suffered in the hands of Police SC fire goals to nil.

Jupiters SC maintained an unbeaten record upto last week from five games went down to Police in a pathetic way. They could not find the nets even an one occasion, but Police SC went onto notch up five goals.

All these goals coming from the boot of Mohamed Rafeek which also record as the highest goals scored by an individual during the on going tourney. Jupiters will have to come up with better performance in the future if they are to reach the top once again.

Meanwhile Negombo Youth took a step forward to be placed at No. 2 slot after their victory over Sri Lanka Army SC two goals to nil. National player G. P. C. Karunaratne scored both goals for winners NYSC in the second session of play.

Defending champions Saunders SC who were right at the bottom of the table with 2 points after five matches. Overcame strong Air Force team two goals to one.

This was their first victory this season and three steps up to reach the sixth slot. It was Weterans Muhamed Amanulla and Jagath Rohana who performed well to score for Saunders to record the first win. Both goals were scored in the first half of the game.

Blue Star SC from Kalutara failed stick to the fourth position as they lost to Renown Sports Club by two goals. Blue Star who had three victories from five games failed to maintain the power play in this game. If they are to move ahead a better performance has to be shown in the forthcoming matches.

In the Segment 'B' the table leaders Navy increased their lead with three more point when they trounced Matara SC 2-0. At present Navy has a total of 16 points in their favour.

Red Sun SC their closest rival after their victory over New Youngs SC 1-0 has a total of 12 points. Victory SC and Old Bens SC game ended in a one all draw. This draw keeps them tied with seven points and also keep them at the fifth and sixth positions.

The match No. 28 in the Segment 'B' between Super Beach Sports Club and Kandy York Sports Club which was scheduled to be played in Kandy did not kick off due to heavy rains. The new date for this game will be decided later.

Segment A

Negombo Youth beat Army at Sugathadasa Stadium 2-0

Saunders SC beat Air Force SL at Sugathadasa Stadium 2-1

Police SC beat Jupiters SC at Police Park 5-1

Ratnam SC beat Java Lane SC at Sugathadasa Stadium 3-2

Renown SC Blue Star SC at Sugathadasa Stadium 2-0.

Segment B

Victory SC drew with Old Bens SC at Reid Avenue 1-1

Red Sun SC beat New Youngs SC at Wennappuwa 1-0

Navy SC beat Matara SC at Navy ground, Welisara 2-0

Super Beach SC Vs Kandy York SC at Kalutara postponed due to heavy rain.

Old Bens SC beat New Youngs SC at Wennappuwa 1-0
