New Upa Pradhana Sanga Nayaka in Raigam and Salpiti Korales

SASANA KEERTHI Sri Saddharma Vagiswaracharya Venerable Bopitiye Dhammissara Thera, Chief Incumbent of both Wadduwa - Molligoda Degambada Maha Viharaya and Wadduwa Samudrarama Piriven Viharaya, President of Dharma Vijaya Organisation Wadduwa, principal, Dharmapala Maha Vidyalaya, Wadduwa will receive the Act of Appointment as Upa Pradhana Sangha Nayaka for both Raigam and Salpiti Korales.

He will receive the Act of Appointment from the Most Venerable Thibbatuwave Siddhartha Sri Sumangala Maha Nayaka Thera of the Siyam Maha Nikaya of the Malwatte Chapter in Kandy on the recommendation of the Vinsat Vargika Karaka Sanga Saba tomorrow at 3 p.m.

A ceremony organised by devotees will be held at Wadduwa - Molligoda Degambada Maha Viharaya tomorrow at 3 p.m. to receive the new Nayake Thera.

Born on September 7, 1947 at Bopitiya, Matugama, Iddagoda Paththu in Pasdun Korale, he entered the Order in his 13th year and received Higher Ordination in 1975 under the tutelage of Venerable Molligoda Dhammarakkhita Thera, the then Chief Incumbent of Wadduwa - Molligoda Degambada Maha Viharaya.

On completion of Pirivena education, he entered the Training College and trained himself as a trained teacher and entered the University of Peradeniya and graduated himself. Since 1994 he is the principle of Dharmapala Maha Vidyalaya, Wadduwa.

Wadduwa Poson Maha Perahera which he organised in 1981, has been exhibited 24 times annually and the Vesak Thorana started in 1989 has been erected 16 times continuously under the patronage of the Dharma Vijaya Organisation where Ven. Dhammissara Thera is the president.

Sri Maha Mihindu Pirivena which he established to commemorate the 2300 Mihindu Jayanti at Samudraramaya in 1993 was approved by the government since January 2001.

Twenty pupils have been ordained by him and 10 have received the Higher Ordination.
