Mayor's Cup cricket tourney

Kandy Municipal Playgrounds Dept., has organised its annual Mayor's Cup six-a-side softball cricket tournament for the 43 community centres and 22 playgrounds maintained by the Kandy Municipal Council on the 21st and 23rd of July 2005 at the Getambe Municipal playground.

Teams from the following playgrounds have entered this tournament: Aruppola, Watapuluwa HS; Watapuluwa Village, Mawilmada, Mapanawatura, Dodanwala, Dangolla, Katukelle, Getambe, Wattarantenna, Wattarantenna (Cosmi Gardens), Asgiriya Junior, Lewella, Malwatte, Deiyannewela and Wewalpitiya.

Teams from the following community centres will also participate: Buwelikada, Katugastota, Nawayalatenna, Bogodawatte, Mulgampola, Nagastenna (Ihala), Yatiwawala, Deiyannewela (Pahala), Bowela, Rosawatte, Mahaiyawa MT, New Mahaiyawa and Nelumpokuna.

Under the guidance of the Chief Playground Instructor, Harold Ranasinghe, Playground Instructors Ranjith Colombage, B. P. K. Ranasinghe, Gamini Gunatillake and S. P. G. Vithanage are organising this tournament.

Kesara Senanayake, the Mayor of Kandy will be the chief guest. L. B. Aluwihare the Deputy Mayor will be the guest of honour.
