Abuse and exposure to violence - the gravest
problem faced by Lankan children
The newly appointed Chairman of the National Child Protection
Authority (NCPA) Dr. Hiranthi Wijemanne said in an interview with
the Daily News that the gravest problem faced by the Lankan child is
his/her exposure to violence and abuse within the family, at home,
and in school. Some children are abused by persons they trust most,
such as, fathers, grandfathers, uncles and even some clergymen.
