Japanese Ambassador commends JICA AA's Tsunami Relief Project
"I was impressed by the Tsunami Victims Relief Project launched by
your Association, to help and provide relief to the needy in the
aftermath of the tsunami tragedy", said Japanese Ambassador Akio Suda,
addressing the 33rd Annual General Meeting of the JICA Alumni
Association of Sri Lanka.
"The Blood Donation Campaign and other social service activities
conducted were commendable and you have played an important role in the
development efforts of the country and the welfare of the people", he
added.
The Ambassador paying a tribute to Dr. P.R. Anthonis, President of
the Association, said that Dr. Anthonis, as the most respected President
has impressed everyone with his personality, commitment to the country
and the passion to promote Japan-Sri Lanka friendly relations.
Takumi Ueshima, Resident Representative, JICA said "considering the
splendid service rendered and the unique contribution made towards the
uplift and promotion of welfare measures among the deserving and the
needy sectors of the population, your Association can indeed, look back
on its record of three decades with a sense of pride and achievement
which in turn would serve to generate more ambitious projects in the
future."
Dr. P.R. Anthonis was re-elected President unanimously for the 33rd
consecutive year. |
