Pakistan detains two dozen suspected militants
PESHAWAR, Pakistan, Thursday (AFP) - Pakistani security forces
Wednesday detained 24 suspected militants after a raid on an Afghan
refugee camp near the border with Afghanistan, officials said.
Two of the detainees were Pakistani tribesmen and the rest were
Afghans, Abdul Qayyum, the adminstration chief of the Bajaur tribal
area, said following the raid on the camp, which houses an estimated
6,000 Afghanis.
"The operation was part of an ongoing counter terrorism campaign,"
Qayyum said. |
