Looking beyond primary, basic education
IT gives me great pleasure to be present today at the launch of the
SAP Academy. A facility with global outreach, providing human
resource training in a variety of areas connected to e-business and
software development is indeed a welcome initiative. This is
particularly significant at a time when, Sri Lanka is moving towards
expanded growth in the IT-enabled service arena, and ICT education
in general.

Stepping over tsunami debris to a new future
HOUSES built for fishermen were flattened to the ground when the
tsunami hit Marudamunai in Ampara district on December 26 last year.
The 34 houses had been constructed under a government fisherfolk
development program, but today they are in a shambles.
