S.Korean soldier kills 8 colleagues

SEOUL, Sunday (Xinhua) - A South Korean soldier went on a shooting spree at a front-line Army unit Sunday morning, killing eight of his colleagues and injuring two others, the South Korean Yonhap News Agency reported.

The incident took place at Yeoncheon county located near the inter-Korean land border, some 60 kilometers north to Seoul, said Yonhap.

The soldier, identified only by his surname Kim, fired at random and threw a hand grenade at his colleagues sleeping at their barrack at around 2:30 a.m. Sunday. it said. The cause of the incident was under investigation.
