Cooray resigns
CHIEF Minister of the Western Provincial Council Reginald Cooray
yesterday tendered his resignation from office.
His resignation was communicated to Western Province Governor Alavi
Mowlana yesterday evening.
In his brief letter to the Governor Cooray said his decision to step
down had the concurrence of the President and was prompted by a yearning
to better serve his party, the Provincial Council and the nation in the
context of the present political climate in the country.
Cooray in his letter has expressed his profound appreciation and
gratitude to Governor Mowlana for his unstinted support, co-operation
and leadership extended during his tenure as CM, in the service to his
people. |
