Fishing equipment for tsunami affected families in Kottegoda

The ceremony held to distribute fishing equipment at the Dickwella
Welfare Society office Ven. Kumbukeve Hemasiri Thera, Viharadhipathi
of the Maliyadde Purana Viharaya, Director of the Still Waters
organisation Frederick George, Still Water local representative
Premalal Ukwatte, ANCL Administrative Manager Naradha Sumanaratne,
Lester Rupasinghe of the ANCL Welfare Society and Sanjeewani Gamhewa
of the Pradesiya Secretariat were present. This organisation hopes
to donate another Rs. 2.5m worth fishing equipment in September.

SIXTY FIVE fisher families in the Kottegoda area who were affected by
the tsunami are being looked after by the Lake House Welfare society in
Maliyadda.
A delegation from a foreign NGO named the Still Water Organisation
after having discussions with the Lake House Welfare Association were in
Sri Lanka to hand over fishing equipment. An agreement was signed to
this effect.
Rs. 2.5m worth boats, engines, and fishing nets were distributed.
Meanwhile, a discussion was held by the Rotary Club of England and the
Still Waters Organisation on providing financial support to construct
houses for the Lake House employees affected by the tsunami.
ANCL Chairman, Janadasa Peiris, Director Finance, ANCL, Sonali
Dissanayake, General Manager, ANCL Abhaya Amaradasa, Administrative
Manager Narada Sumanaratne, Assistant General Manager D.M.P. Dassanayake
and Manager of the Lake House Welfare Society Dickwella branch Lester
Rupasinghe were present.
The agreement was handed over to ANCL Chairman Janadasa Peiris by
Director of he Still Waters Association Frederick George. Hillary George
and Premalal Ukwatte were also present. |
