Saunders, Blue Star clash today

The giants of local soccer Saunders SC the Kit Premier League
Champions and Champion of Champions Blue Star SC from Kalutara will meet
today at the Sugathadasa Stadium under lights.
This game is arranged to give the soccer fans in Sri Lanka a chance
to witness the two super teams in action.
This year's Premier League Champs from Pettah, Saunders SC who has
never lost a game to Blue Star SC at any level will go all out to
maintain their unblemished record. With this intention Saunders have
brought in a former stalwart from Ratnam SC and Sri Lanka's Cup winner
Mohamed Amanulla to strengthen the side.
Amanulla who was out of the game for a short period has been
practising with Pettah Club and has reached the peak form once again.
His inclusion could boost the chances for Saunders. Chatura Maduranga,
Dudley Steinwhill and Manjula Sirisena will add more strength for
Saunders.
Meanwhile Blue Stars SC, the team that won the Premier League title
last year and was placed fourth at the recently concluded championship
is sure to give the Pettah Club a torrid time.
Though they could not reach the top at the League Championship. They
came up with fine performance to grab the Champion of Champions Trophy
beating strong Negombo Youth SC one goal to nil. This victory also
helped to took a place to play in the AFC Presidents Cup tournament in
Nepal next month.
Blue Star players are also hard at tracing in preparation for the
Nepal tour. They will go that to maintain their supremacy as Champion of
Champions.
All proceeds of this game will be shared by the teams according to
FFSL officials. The spectators who are expected to throng the stadium to
witness the came back of former Stalwart Amanulla are sure to receive
their money's worth the teams. |
