World Cup 2005 the President of the Women's Cricket Association of Sri
Lanka, Gwen Herat made up for it with a successful push at the IWCC/ICC

The International Women's Cricket Council ceased making way for the
CCW (Cricket Committee - Women) to sit at the ICC. The WCASL which is
now under the wings of Sri Lanka Cricket is also one step ahead of India
which has still failed to merge with the Indian Cricket Board, which is
a requirement by the ICC.
WCASL being the least experienced and the youngest member of the IWCC,
gained this status by the ability of Gwen Herat who is considered a very
skilful, negotiator of the IWCC who put Sri Lanka in the right spot.
In Pretoria Herat paid a glowing tribute to their sponsor, Singer
(Sri Lanka) Ltd. for sponsoring the National Team for the women's
cricket World Cup 2005, which is being held in South Africa.
Pakistan also lost its right to merge with the ICC. The WCASL
President Gwen Herat will return to the island on the 6th April having
secured a successful International schedule for the women cricketers. |
