Blue Star SC for AFC President's Cup in Nepal

THE Kit Champion of Champions trophy winners Blue Star SC from Kalutara has qualified to play in the Asian Football Confederation President's Cup in Nepal next month.

The Blue Star SC players will undergo a three-week residential training program before their departure to Nepal early May.

The AFC President's Cup will be competed for by eight teams including Sri Lanka's Blue Star SC other teams in the tray are Three Star SC from Nepal the host country, Transport united (Bhutan) Rega TadAZg, (Tajikistan)Tai Power Company, (Chinese Taipei), Dordoi Dynamo. (Kyrgyzstan) WAPDA (Pakistan) Hello United (Cambodia) and Blue Star SC (Sri Lanka).

The eight teams have grouped in to two groups with Sri Lankan Club in Group B along with Pakistan, Cambodia and Kyrgyzstan. Group A consist of Bhutan, Tajikistan, Chaise Taipei and hosts Nepal.

A total of twelve matches are down to play in the preliminary round. The two top teams in each group qualify for the semi finals scheduled for May 12 and the final on May 14.

Meanwhile the Blue Star SC in a bid to strengthen the team for the tour has invited Dudley Steinwall, Chathura Maduranga, Rawmy Mohideen, G. C. Tillekeratne (Goal keeper) and Azmeer Aliyar. These five players will join the Kalutara team from May 6 for practices. The squad will be handled by Upul Premalal.

May 6, Friday - 5. Tai Power Company (Chinese Taipei) vs Regar TadAZg (Tajikistan), 6. Transport United (Bhutan) vs Three Star Club (Nepal).

May 7, Saturday - 7. Hello United (Cambodia) vs WAPDA (Pakistan), 8. Blue Star Sports Club (Sri Lanka) vs Dordoi-Dynamo (Kyrgyzstan).

May 8, Sunday - 9. Tai Power Company (Chines Taipei) vs Transport United (Bhutan), 10. Three Star Club (Nepal) vs Regar TadAZg (Tajikistan).

May 9, Monday - 11. Hello United (Cambodia) vs Blue Star Sports Club (Sri Lanka), 12. Dordoi-Dynamo (Kyrgyztan) vs WAPDA (Pakistan).

May 12, Thursday - Semi Final 1.- Winner A vs Runner Up B, Semi Final 2.- Winner B vs Runner Up A.
