Brigadier Tilak Seneviratne no more

The death occurred of Brig. Tilak Seneviratne of the Gemunu Regiment on March 8 at the Army Hospital, Colombo following a brief illness. He was 46. The funeral will take place with full military honours at the Borella Kanatta today (March 12) at 3 p.m.

Brig. Seneviratne was born at Angammana, Narammala on October 8, 1959 as the eldest son of S. A. M. Sirisena and A. A. Nalini Adhikari. He received his education at Maliyadeva College, Kurunegala and Ananda College, Colombo.

During his school days he was a keen sportsman who won colours in athletics and represented his school in rugger.

After completing his studies he joined the Sri Lanka Army as a cadet officer.

He took an active part in sports holding various positions in the army specially the Gemunu Regiment. Brig. Seneviratne who has followed several military training courses abroad has seen active duty in the operational areas in the North and received the 'Ranawickrema' and 'Ranashoora' medals for gallantry.

He leaves his wife Gauri Manjula and two children Shehan and Sachini.
