Mystery surrounds death of medical practitioner

MYSTERY surrounds the death of a medical practitioner, whose body with hands and legs tied, was recovered from the temporary shelter of his coconut estate in Pallama, Anamaduwa yesterday.

According to police, the deceased's wife had called at the site since her husband had not returned home for some days.

Later she had sought police assistance when there had been no response to her calls.

Police broke into the house only to find the body of the doctor identified as G.W. Thilakaratne.

Police said the doctor, a father of three, owned dispensaries in Negombo and Kurana in addition to practising in Pallegama.

Police dogs were brought to the scene but rain hampered the search.
